Thank you for your patience whilst we update the website for the new school year.  Hope you all have a good half-term holiday.

Thomas' Fun with Numbers Page

I love to play little counting games, and being a curious little bear I like to find out whether things are bigger, smaller, longer or shorter than other things. Numbers help me to know things like this!

I also like to tell the time - I don't want to miss my visit to see the children at the Infant School! It's my favourite part of the week!

So here are a few things to do with numbers that we can have fun doing!

Here are some questions that children in Year 1 can try:

How many pairs of numbers can you find with a difference of 5?  (for example 5, 10   7, 12   21, 26)

What is the time?  Can you tell the time to the hour, half hour and quarter hour on an analogue clock?  What will the time be in two hours?  What was the time four hours ago?

Look at the bottles and containers in the kitchen.  How much do they hold? Which objects contain the most/least? Which things are measured in litres and millilitres?

Practise writing the numerals to at least 100.

Can you write the words for the numbers up to 20?

And here are some questions for the Year 2 children:

Practise writing three digit numbers in numerals.  For example, write the numbers for one hundred and one, one hundred and fifteen, one hundred and twenty.

What is the time? Can you tell the time to the quarter hour on an analogue and on a digital clock?  How many minutes are there in an hour, a half hour, a quarter hour?

Look at the bottles and containers in the kitchen.  How much do they hold?  Which objects contain the most, and the least?  Which things are measured in litres and millilitres?

Look around your house for right angles.  Remember that a right angle is 90 degrees (the corner of a square).

See you soon!

Thomas
